Playing Games to Get Ideas

Today you will explore some games on CoolMath in order to look for things you can add to your game. You may play several different games on CoolMath and find one that has something similar to your own game (drag and drop, etc.) Write 5 sentences about one thing about this game that you can add to your own game to make it better. Think about the following questions as you write:

  1. Does the game have a way to keep score? Does it have a timer? Are there some interesting sound effects or other effects? Are there platforms and a scrolling background?
  2. How did the game developers do this?
  3. How will you do this?
  4. Which tutorial or section on the wiki will help you do this in your game?
YOU MAY NOT WRITE ABOUT A GAME THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT BEFORE!!!

Game Progress Reflection

What progress have you made on your game this week? Here are some things to think about while you are writing:

Did you learn how to do something new in Flash?
Did you create a really cool drawing?
Were you able to help someone else out on their game?
What was the biggest challenge you faced while working on your game this week?
How do you feel about what you have done?
Are you proud of what you have accomplished or frustrated because of something you haven't figured out yet?

Once you are finished, you need to publish any files you have been working on this week and upload them to the wiki. Make sure you change the file names (for example Teresav1996_mygame2) so that you can show your progress. After you upload them to the wiki, you need to put them on your team page in the section for sample game scenes.
